Two women lost nearly 45 million takas by falling in love online with a fake Brad Pitt.

A group of scammers has defrauded two women in Spain out of $364,000, or approximately 43.7 million takas (based on an exchange rate of 120 takas per dollar), by posing as Hollywood superstar Brad Pitt online. Following the complaints from the victims, Spanish police arrested five individuals connected to the online scam using Brad Pitt's name and identity.

According to police reports, the scammers initially monitored online platforms frequented by female fans of Brad Pitt. They then analyzed the women's emotions and sent messages through WhatsApp or email, posing as the actor. Gradually, they built a romantic relationship, advising the women to invest in various projects.

Both victims, aged 60, were first sent various romantic messages under Brad Pitt's name. Over time, a relationship was established, with the fake Brad Pitt even sending handwritten letters. One letter reportedly read: "My love for you is real. I love with all my heart. This is a feeling I will have for a lifetime. Please forgive me and accept me. I love you. I love you very much."

It’s worth noting that Brad Pitt does not use social media and therefore does not have any accounts on such platforms. The scammers exploited this fact by impersonating him and deceiving his fans.
